New on Beaut in Japan! Visee Super Slim Eyeliner

Visee Super Slim Eyeliner

When it comes to eyeliners, I think Japanese ones are the best. Liquid or pencil, it doesn't matter. I had been a liquid eyeliner kind of girl for more than 10 years until I discovered Visee Color Impact Gel Liner that I wrote about HERE in December, and now I'm so in love with their latest eyeliner that just came out last month called 'Super Slim Eyeliner'. This is the pencil eyeliner that you can actually create the perfect flick.

It comes in 3 different shades, but I only picked up Black and Brown for myself. For your reference, here is the swatches of all three shades next to each other.
So now let's take a look at the details!

First of all, as the name suggests, it's SUPER thin. You can see how thin it is compared to my finger. And don't forget I have quite thin fingers. The packaging  is all black no matter what the shade is, which is a bit inconvenient because I always have to grab one, and check the label to see which shade is it before use.

It looks like retractable, but actually once you twist it to get the pencil out, you cannot get it back in. You have to be really careful not to twist too much, otherwise you will squash the pencil when you put the lid on.

I know I'm being annoying right now, but look how thin it is!! It means I can draw a super thin line though it's not a liquid eyeliner. I always thought it's pretty hard to draw a thin line with a pencil eyeliner but this one makes is very easy, surprisingly.

BLACK
It glides on super smoothly that you don't even have to try to draw a line. You just lightly touch your skin with the eyeliner, and it allows you to draw a thin, straight line. You don't even need to pull your skin to draw a line, that's how creamy the formula is. Black is a pretty dark black which is perfect for the waterline as well.

You can create the flick as well with this eyeliner, which I never thought would be possible with a pencil eyeliner. You can smudge it with a brush for more natural or smoky look, or you can just leave it as it is. You won't believe how closer this eyeliner allows you to draw a line to the lash line!

BROWN
Sorry my skin looks red in the photo above, it's because I couldn't get the previous swatch off with Bioderma. That's how strong the staying power of these eyeliners is! When I use it on my eyes, I always use a cleansing balm or oil to remove it, but I was being lazy trying to get it off with Bioderma, which made my skin look red because I rubbed the cotton pad so hard!

Anyway, brown is brighter than I expected -which I thought wasn't ideal but it actually looks beautiful on the eyes.

It's natural, but makes a huge difference to the whole look. To be honest I use the brown one much more often than the black one, just because it goes well with my favorite neutral eyeshadows.

Overall, it's such an amazing eyeliner. I do not use my liquid eyeliners anymore recently, because this eyeliner especially in brown, works amazingly. Of course the eyeshadow palette that came out along with the eyeliner, is also brilliant if you haven't checked it out. I wrote an in-depth review on the palette HERE :)

New on Beaut in Japan! Leanani 3-way Eyebrow Pencil

Leanani 3-way Eyebrow Pencil
There are some eyebrow pencils hyped up recently, such as Anastasia Brow Wiz and Soap and Glory Brow Archery. But I have never been interested in any imported eyebrow related products to be honest, just because I am satisfied with Japanese ones. My holy grail is definitely the eyebrow pencil from KATE. I don't remember how many times I have repurchased their eyeliner N.

But recently I discovered this amazing eyebrow pencil from Leanani called '3-way Eyebrow Pencil'. It's got a spoolie, pencil and powder all in one slim packaging. How handy is that? And the quality is pretty amazing.

The eyeliner itself looks like this. It comes in 3 shades; light brown, brown and ash brown. Mine is brown, which I thought would be a little too dark because my hair is pretty light (not intentionally, my hair doesn't hold the hair colour and becomes pretty light naturally) and I always choose the lightest shade when it comes to an eyebrow related product. But actually, brown is pretty light -I wonder what light brown looks like, because this one does look like light brown!

The spoolie is short and wide, and a perfect size for combing eyebrows.

The oval shaped eyebrow pencil makes it easier to draw the line. I use the edge to draw the thin line, to fake the hair, and use the flat side to fill in the sparse areas.

There is powder inside of the lid, that the sponge tip applicator picks up.

Top : pencil
Bottom : powder

I love the shade so much that I haven't been using the one from KATE since I got it. What's so good about this product is that it creates such a natural look, without making the eyebrows look fake.

The thin, defined eyebrows like the ones Wayne from gossmakeupartist called 'instagram brows' are very old fashioned. In Japan, the thicker and lighter brows have been on trend for years now. And this eyebrow pencil makes it very easy to create that look.

I'm sure you already have the idea how to use them, but let me show you how well it works. First of all, I comb my brow with the spoolie. You can see how small and thick it is, which fits perfectly.

Then I fill in the brow with the pencil.

If I want to make my brow thicker, I can do that easily with the powder without making it look fake. Adding the powder in the end makes it look put together, and it fills in any sparse areas that the pencil kind of missed. Then I sometimes brush it through with the spoolie again.

I decided to carry it on Beaut in Japan as I think it's such a lovely product. I might try the darker shade as I coloured my hair ashy brown which is a few tones darker than before. I will write another review if I have tried any other shades!

My Morning Skincare Routine -Spring 2015

Spring has come! It's been pretty warm in Tokyo though it still gets chilly at night. As my skin has been in a good condition, I thought to write about my current morning skincare routine today.

Bellissima Skin Booster  is the latest addition to my skincare routine. This cleansing brush is from Italy I believe, and came with 4 different brushes. I tend to use the brush for sensitive skin on my face, and the one for normal skin on my decollete. It's not as harsh because the brush doesn't spin, and the bristles are pretty soft. I'm hooked on it because it makes my skin feel like a baby's butt.

Kiehl's Calendula Deep Cleansing Foaming Face Wash, which is supposed to work as a makeup remover as well as a face wash, is one of the worst makeup removers as it doesn't remove anything. But on the other hand, this is the best face wash ever! It's so gentle yet does remove dirt and excess oil, without stripping the natural oil on the skin. Every time I wash my face with it, my skin feels so smooth that I cannot stop touching it...!

Hada Lab Skin Conditioner is a very basic lotion that hydrates and balances. I take a generous amount on a cotton pad, and gently pat it on my skin without scrubbing it. It prevents acne, and controls the oil production. It's the best lotion to use in the morning, because it's hydrating yet not too heavy.

My Clinique Superdefense Daily Defense Moisturizer SPF 20 is nearly empty actually, and I cannot repurchase it as it's not available in Japan. I haven't decided which day cream I buy after using this one up, let me know if you have a recommendation for combination skin! This is such a lovely moisturiser to use all year round! It's pretty basic, but it moisturises and protects the skin which is pretty mush everything I want from a day cream.

This Clinique All About Eyes Rich is a mini that I got online last year to take to Okinawa. Though it's tiny, it seems to last forever! It does not reduce the appearance of dark circles as the official website claims, sorry, but it does smooths the wrinkles and creates the perfect canvas for concealers.

Nighttime skincare routine will be up soon x
